Nenek tersebut tak mengetahui bahwa batu tersebut bernilai tinggi. Bahkan, batu tersebut dijadikannya sebagai pengganjal pintu. Nenek yang menemukan nugget rumanite tersebut hidup di Colti. Saat dibawa pulang, orang-orang juga tak mengenali bahwa batu tersebut bernilai tinggi.
Bahkan, pernah sekali pencuri perhiasan menargetkan rumah sang nenek, tetapi tidak mengambil batu yang menjadi pengganjal pintu tersebut.
Setelah sang nenek meninggal pada 1991, keluarga yang mewarisi rumahnya mencurigai batu tersebut. Mereka lalu membawa dan menjualnya ke pemerintah Romania.
Setelah diteliti ahli, batu berharga itu dimasukkan ke Museum Sejarah di Krakow, Polandia, dikutip dari Science Alert, Sabtu (5/10/2024).
Menurut ahli, amber tersebut berusia sekitar 38-70 juta tahun. Batu itu diklasifikasikan sebagai harta karu nasional Romania.
“Penemuan ini merepresentasikan signifikansi di level sains dan level museum,” kata Daniel Costache, Direktur Museum of Buzau.
